Sound and Character

The sound of the saz is ringing, bright, lyrical, with a recognizable metallic ring of doubled or tripled strings. It is perfectly suited both for solo virtuoso tunes (zeybeks) and for accompanying deep vocals.

Design and Features

A pear-shaped body made of solid wood (mulberry, walnut) with a long neck tied with numerous movable fishing line frets, allowing for precise microintervals of the Turkish tuning system. The strings are divided into courses (2–3 strings per row).
