Congas deliver a deep, rich bass in the center and ringing, snappy open or muted strikes on the rim. They create a dense, driving dance groove.

Design and Features

A tall barrel-shaped wooden or fiberglass body tapering downward. A thick cowhide or plastic membrane with a mechanical tuning system using screws is stretched across the top. Congas are played with bare hands.
